Wunderlich cylinder protector BMW R12 & R12 NineT - black

The cylinders of a BMW boxer engine are exposed. A fall, a slide, or even brushing against a rough wall while maneuvering can easily lead to mechanical damage—ranging from unsightly scratches to the complete wear-through of the valve cover. Since the valve covers are only mounted by friction, an impact can cause them to shift relative to the cylinder head, which may damage the complex valve mechanism or the mounting threads. That’s why additional protection for the valve covers is essential. We have developed a highly effective set of protectors, precisely engineered to fit snugly with minimal clearance. This precision requires high manufacturing standards.

The protector is made from high-strength aluminum. Its protective rigidity comes from a three-dimensional folded shape and a generous material thickness of 3 mm. On the inside, facing the valve cover, we’ve integrated high-temperature-resistant elastic segments. These segments are designed with specific Shore hardness ratings to absorb impact. Their combined cushioning and support function evenly distributes external forces across three strong mounting points per protector—preventing force spikes that could otherwise cause damage.

PLEASE NOTE: These valve and cylinder protectors are compatible with standard BMW valve covers as well as Option 719 covers. When used with the GUARD 31472-00X engine protection bar, the extension kit 31475-002 is required.
